Remembering Betty Ford - For those under 30, not a clue

Washington - A survey on the influence of former First Lady Betty Ford discovered that 67% of respondents under age 30 believed she was married to the famous auto manufacturer Henry Ford. The remaining 33% had no idea who Henry Ford, Gerald Ford or Betty Ford were. However, several were aware they drove a Ford.

The recently deceased First Lady was an icon for many men hating feminists and a pill popping comrade for many drug addicts. In fact, the Betty Ford Clinic became synonymous with celebrities seeking an easy way to avoid jail time. But the First Lady always reminded people that it was her husband, "that guy Chevy Chase made fun of on Saturday Night Live," who deserved the limelight. "After all," she would explain, "how many people can say they pardoned Nixon?"

Pollsters have long been aware that young people know little about things that happened more than five years ago. "Many young people don't even remember voting for Barack Obama, but exit polls at the time show they did," said Harvey Walker of "Walk, Don't Gallup" polls. "It's a shame that great people like Betty Ford and Chester Arthur are Dust in the Wind, which is also forgotten, as well as Kansas, both the band and State."

In follow-up interviews done with respondents the next day, 87% said they didn't remember anything about a poll but would check their old Facebook statuses just in case.
